We Did It!

We did it! The Wheeler Dealers completed another two day 160 mile ride to raise funds to find a cure. Our thanks to our many donors and sponsors for helping us to accomplish this physical event.

Today, Gerry and I are relaxing and enjoying the moment. As soon as I get pictures I will post them to this blog.

Let this be the last year that we ride to raise money to find a MS cure!

Less than 2 weeks to go! Austin Weird Riding!

It started out cloudy and rainy but ended partly cloudy and a little chilly. Yes, I am writing about the weekend in Austin. Ray and Angie Torrey, Bob and Gerry visited the Gentry Ranch in Austin this past weekend. What a grand weekend it was.

We managed to get in two rides - a drizziler 26 miler on Friday and a downright rainy36 miler on Saturday. Training time is running out. Congratulations to Dave Weathers on completing the Saturday ride. Our apologies for leaving you at mile 29. I believe that the Sam's Club ride will be enjoyable for Dave.

Ray and Angie did awesome as usual. You would never know that Ray had some serious surgery late last year. Brad and Sarah were even able to get in a quick 15 miler on Sunday.

The food was excellent. Our thanks to Brad, Sarah, Ray and Angie for the delicious meals we enjoyed at Casa Gentry. The game playing was costly for some of us! Grace and Gerry were taking us to the cleaners. Steve, you missed some good Sc_ _ Your Neighbor.

Gerry was inspirational at the finish line of the Houston to Austin MS 150 ride. She was also inspirational for the hat show we put on for Grace on Friday. We are sure that Grace will always remember the welcome she received getting off the school bus on Friday.

And now it is time to get ready for Frisco to Ft. Worth. Bob

Wheeler Dealer Fundraising Ride starting in Bolivar, TX

Posted by Picasa
It was a beautiful quiet morning in Bolivar, TX, just west of Sanger, TX. Ray Torrey and his team - Angie, Amanda, Peggy and Steve organized a 129 mile ride for MS. Officially, there were 14 riders who started today's ride. This group will ride to Old Spanish Fort, the approximate half way point for today's ride. Our team will supply lunch to this hardy group of riders. Gerry was her beautiful self and spoke words of encouragement to all riders. (At least some of the time.) Gerry and I are very thankful for this dedicated group who organized this ride. At the present time, they are out serving lunch to today's riders. Congratulations Ray, Angie, Amanda, Peggy and Steve.

6 Weeks to Go!

Hello, this is our official blog site. I will be moving over some posts that I have made to another blog. (Bob's error) I will be posting pictures from the 20 miler that Lynn, Ron, Julie and Bob rode in Flower Mound on Sunday, March 14th.

There is still time to donate. There is still time to volunteer. Remember - Gerry and her team of volunteers works the lunch stop on Day 1 in Sanger. It is fun but you do get in a good workout.

Enjoy your day and ride safe.

Join us for the 2nd Annual MS 1.5 Kid's Bike Challenge!

Once again, the Wheeler Dealers are hosting the 2nd Annual MS 1.5 Kid's Bike Challenge. This year's event will take place Sunday, April 5th at Celebration Park in Allen. This bike rally gives kids the chance to feel the thrill and excitement of riding in their own bike ride as well as show them how they can help persons with multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system.

"We developed the ride, so they can not only have the experience of riding in a rally and learning bike safety, but also to give them the opportunity to help others," said Cheryl Schwitzgebel, Allen resident and ride coordinator.
The ride will take place on the bike path around Celebration Park.

The course will be blocked to traffic by participants in the City of Allen's Explorer Post, which provides the opportunity for young adults to explore law enforcement careers.
After riders check in, Plano Cycling & Fitness will provide bike and helmet checks. They will also talk with each participant about the importance of bike safety.

Registration begins at 1 p.m. All participants receive a bag filled with health and fitness-related items and information on MS. Music will be provided by O2KOOL! Entertainment, along with a raffle that includes a child's BMX Bike from Raleigh Bicycles.

"We're fortunate to have the support of our local business owners for this event," said Schwitzgebel. "This area is known for being a healthy and fitness-oriented community, so we saw this as an opportunity to give back. We're instilling in the kids the importance of these things for our future."

The 16-member Wheeler Dealer Cycling Team are participating in this year's MS 150, a 2-day, 150-plus mile bike ride from Frisco to Fort Worth. Funds raised at the event will go to support the MS Society's Lone Star Chapter.

We're on Facebook

Facebook has been around for years, but it seems like it has really taken off in the first weeks of 2009. When I finally got talked into signing up a few weeks ago, I was surprised and pleased to discover that that the Wheeler Dealers have their own Facebook group, which you can find here.

We invite all our supporters with Facebook accounts to join our group!
